Class of 2024 Seniors from Gate City High School, Rye Cove High School, and Twin Springs High School are invited to apply for a $500 scholarship, sponsored by Carter's Fort Daughters of the American Revolution. One recipient will be selected to receive the scholarship from those submitted by graduating Scott County seniors.

This completed form, along with a 500-word essay setting forth the applicant's career objectives and major goals in life, must be submitted via e-mail by May 1, 2024. The essay must be in Word or PDF format; submissions should not simply be copied and pasted into the body of an e-mail. The essay should be an original composition by the submitting student, in traditional APA or other scholarly format, including a title page. The essay must specify how the scholarship money will be used to further and continue education beyond high school (to include college, technical degrees, or certifications), what field of study the student plans to pursue, and why the student selected their intended course of study. Students who have an interest in furthering a career related to history, government, or public service should include this information in the essay, as priority will be given to essays submitted by students pursuing higher education (including college, technical degrees, or certifications) in history, government, or public service.  

Scholarship winners will be selected by an independent committee. Scholarship winners will be announced at the recipient's Senior Awards ceremony and will be distributed at or before a Flag Day service at First Presbyterian Church, Gate City, VA on June 14, 2024, at noon.
