Thank you for your interest in this workshop!
Workshop description: Are you curious about podcasts? Come join our podcast listening session facilitated by Mark Pagán, Film and Audio Producer and Host of
othermenneedhelp.com. In this session, you will hear audio clips that highlight stories and perspectives that have been misrepresented or overlooked in dominant narratives about a place or a community, and then you will have the opportunity to discuss your thoughts and reactions with fellow participants. It’s a Book Club for your ears! You’ll walk away with a deeper appreciation for audio storytelling and practical approaches for creating your own podcast or audio project. No experience necessary.
This workshop will be offered on:
- Wednesday, March 10th from 4:00 - 5:30pm EST
Space is limited. Once you submit this form, if selected, we will send you instructions on how to join the workshop session. We are giving preference to participants who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) and are residents of Brockton, Chelsea, Fall River, Holyoke, Lawrence, Lowell, Lynn, New Bedford, Springfield, and Worcester.
This workshop is organized by PRX (
prx.org) as part of a research project funded by the Barr Foundation. One of the goals of this project is to support aspiring podcasters and storytellers across Massachusetts. Our focus is on BIPOC residents and BIPOC-led groups interested in the arts, media, and/or elevating the voices and stories of their community. At the end of each workshop, we will also ask for feedback from workshop participants on their workshop experience as well as additional insights they might want to share about audio storytelling in their city.
