Kuratau School Snow Squad 2023 Drivers needed

As you may be aware, Ruapehu Alpine Lifts [RAL] are still in the process of releasing their intentions for the 2023 winter season, including pricing for schools and season passes. We have been in contact with RAL and are hopeful they will inform us of their plans within the next 4-6 weeks. We want to be ready to go as soon as the information is released to ensure our tamariki don't miss out.

We are wanting to hear from any Parents or Whānau who are able to be a parent helper/driver with Snow Squad for the coming winter season.

WITHOUT PARENT HELP AND DRIVERS WE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE SNOW SQUAD.  THE SIZE OF OUR SNOW SQUAD WILL DEPEND ON HOW MANY DRIVERS WE ARE ABLE TO SECURE. Please read the information below carefully to ensure you are able to commit to ALL the requirements, before filling in the form.

This is an amazing and unique experience for our tamariki and we truly appreciate the time and commitment you give to ensure our Snow Squad can continue to operate each year.

Parents helpers MUST:

  • Have a full drivers licence

  • Complete a police vetting form

  • Have a warranted & registered 4x4 car, be able to drive the kids up the mountain 

  • Be able to commit to every Wednesday during Term 3, from 6.45am to 3.30pm 

  • Must be able to spend the day on skis or a snowboard with a group of kids at your level. (If you have never skied or snowboarded before that's okay - you can learn alongside our tamariki)

  • Recognise that you may NOT be with your own child during the day on the snow

Parents helpers WILL:

  • receive a free lift pass and free equipment hire for the day, if needed (NOTE: this has been the case in previous years - but will need to be confirmed with RAL for the 2023 season)

  • Have an automatic place in the snow squad for their own child/children (Please note: you may not be with your own child on the snow)

Without your support our tamariki would not be have the opportunity to participate in such a great sport on our beautiful maunga.
