Fairfax UMC ESL Volunteer Needs

We need your help with this opportunity to share the English language with our neighbors. You are guaranteed to make new friends and leave each session with a smile. Students represent over 15 different languages. Our fall session runs 10 weeks from Sept 13-Nov 15. We offer English classes on Wednesday nights from 7-9.

We especially need folks to be hosts each week, that mainly involves making sure students find their class and setting up refreshments and greeting students for snack time. Classroom helpers are also needed. You can choose one week or all weeks to help, it's up to you.

Fairfax UMC is growing their ESL program and we need you to help. Being involved with ESL is a rewarding opportunity and you will not regret it!

What would you like to do? There are opportunities for you to help in the classrooms or behind the scenes.

Class Instructor: Plans the weekly lesson, leads students through lessons, and facilitates activities and conversation.

Class Assistant: Assists class instructor with leading students through lessons, activities and conversation.nd

Weekly Host: Will greet students and make sure they know where the classroom is, set up refreshment for weekly snack break.

Administrative Assistance: There are opportunities to help with registration, ordering supplies, keeping attendance, and taking payments

End of Session Banquet on Weds Nov 15: We have such a fun Banquet! You can help coordinate the food, set up he room, or help with the games!

Registration on Sept 6 and Sept 11: Greet students, distribute books, collect payments.
