Brief History
The Columbus Computer Society (“CCS”) was founded in 1985, originally called the Columbus P.C. Users Group. On March 3rd, 1987, the name was officially changed to the Columbus Computer Society.

The purpose of CCS is as follows:

  1. To provide a forum for members of the central Ohio computer community for their mutual benefit, increased understanding, and utilization of computers and electronic communications.
  2. To encourage experimentation and research in the current and potential uses of the personal computer and electronic communications.
  3. To provide an opportunity for computer users to exchange ideas, knowledge, and experience for the enrichment of all concerned.
  4. To provide both formal and informal education in computer applications, hardware, software and electronic communications technologies.
  5. To provide a medium of communication with other user groups in other geographical areas or using different systems.
  6. To provide for the formation of special interest groups.
  7. To provide a medium for the exchange of public domain, contributed, and “shareware” programs.
  8. To assist members of the community in acquiring computer hardware and software.
  9. To act as a consumer advocate for users of personal computers.
