Opera ARIA PD for Educators Course - Description
San Francisco Opera Student Dress Rehearsals offer students the opportunity to experience the drama and excitement of grand opera in person by attending final dress rehearsals at the War Memorial Opera House. Every year, thousands of students experience the wonder opera has to offer from world class singers accompanied by the incomparable San Francisco Opera Orchestra and Chorus, towering sets, dazzling costumes and much more. All final dress rehearsals include English projected supertitles above the stage so no one misses the action!
The SF Opera ARIA (Arts Resources In Action) Student Dress Rehearsal and Professional Development (PD) for Educators Program includes:
1. PD sessions aimed at providing teachers with tools to connect the study of opera to classroom curricula/syllabi. Each session introduces educators to the operatic art form, explores the SF Opera production the class will attend, and addresses curriculum links for multiple grade levels. Educator materials are provided.
2. Access to SF Opera Student Dress Rehearsals for the educator and his/her class(es). Teachers interested in bringing students to an SF Opera Student Final Dress Rehearsal (FDR) must attend the appropriate PD session, if one is offered, to help prepare their students for the experience.
