The weather is cooler and days are becoming shorter. This coincides with the emergence of mushrooms, or fungi. On this Explorer Day, we will go on a mushroom hunt. We will learn about the different kinds of mushrooms in the Pacific Northwest. Some are safe to eat and others are not. Can we figure out how to tell the difference?
We will be joining our Nature Mentor Katie Turner from the CRD on a walk through the beautiful Francis/King Regional Park. The park is home to some of the largest Douglas fir trees in the Victoria area, and hopefully a lot of mushrooms!
WHEN: Saturday, November 2nd, 1 - 2pm
We will meet at the Francis King Nature Centre (next to the parking lot) and then join Katie for a walk at 1pm.
Please come a little before 1 pm if you can, so we can sign in and leave for the walk right after.
WHERE: Saanich, Francis/King Regional Park. Meet at the Nature Centre off Munn Road.
HOW TO GET THERE:
Follow Trans-Canada Hwy/BC-1 N
Take exit 10 toward View Royal/Colwood
