As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to improve the wellbeing of asylum seekers in Montreal, increase accessibility to services and practice your clinical interviewing skills.
Following your submission of this form, you will be contacted by a member of our team in order to proceed with next steps (signing a confidentiality form + scheduling a virtual training session).

Please note: This program is only open to McGill MDCM students at this time. Med-P students or those from other programs who are not registered with the CMQ are not eligible.
Why become a volunteer?:
- Make a real impact on the lives of asylum seekers in Montreal by helping them access the health and social services they need
- Develop your clinical interviewing skills while taking a medical, social and psychological history with asylum seeker patients (using a structured guide)
- Practice working with an interpreter and navigating conversations with patients who speak languages other than your own

Health Navigation Volunteer requirements:
- Engage in clinical interviews and
history taking over zoom or via phone call with asylum seekers (no minimum frequency of sessions required). Possibility of in-person sessions to come.
- Complete the asylum seeker’s
health passport document
- Provide the client with an individualized
list of community resources and services based on their identified needs, using our database
- Undergo 45-min zoom training session and sign confidentiality agreement prior to first session
