1. Coaches are expected to follow all of the guidelines listed below.

2. Coaches are expected to read and abide by the guidelines of the CHARGERS Safety Plan. A copy of the Chargers Safety Plan can be found https://chargersrowing.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/2020-Safety-Plan.pdf.

3. Coaches are expected to have safety of the athletes as their first priority.

4. Coaches are expected to have proof of current CPR & First Aid certification on record with the CHARGERS.

5. Coaches are expected to display high personal standards and project a favorable image of rowing and of coaching by:

6. Refraining from public criticism of athletes, fellow coaches, and parents when in front of athletes.

7. Refraining from the use of insulting, harassing, or offensive language in the conduct of their business.

8. Coaches are expected to direct comments or criticism at the athlete's performance rather than the athlete.

9. At the first meeting or practice, Coaches are expected to:
- communicate with the athletes about the coach's expectations;
- inform the athletes that the use of insulting, harassing or offensive language during practices and at regattas is prohibited;
- and advise athletes they are to refrain from this behavior at all other times.

10. Coaches should train coxswains on how to safely dock their shells after practice and assist them in windy conditions.

11. Coaches must comply with all other Chargers policies and procedures including but not limited to its Covid Preparedness Plan.

12. Coaches are expected to ensure workouts are suitable for the age, experience, ability, and fitness level of the athletes.
