Chief of Staff Application
Fill out the following form to apply to be chosen to serve as a Presiding Officer for the 2023-2024 Program Year.

Please be aware that if chosen you will be expected to attend ALL applicable trainings and carry out the duty of your office. Please consult your parents, advisors, and other mentors about the demands of a being a Presiding Officer and to be sure it is a commitment you are ready to make. Be a current sophmore or junior in high school at the time of application
Have 1 or more years of experience as a Supporting or Presiding Officer
Be in at least your 2nd program year in Youth In Government

Your Experience: Briefly explain any prior Youth In Government or outside leadership experience, and how that would improve your ability to succeed as a member of the Presiding Officer Corps, and specifically as the Chief of Staff. (Word Limit: 200)
Your Role at Assembly: Briefly explain your view of the Executive Cabinet's role within the Assembly structure. How will your presence on the Cabinet enhance the role of the Executive Cabinet and the member's experience? In the event that your opinion differs from the Governor how will that impact your role on the Executive Cabinet? (Word Limit: 200)
Your Vision: Please explain your vision for the further development of the Director of Legislative Affairs Program Area. Be sure to include specific ideas for throughout the program year, as well as at State Assembly. (Word Limit: 200)
Managing the Directors of Legislative Affairs Program: As the Chief of Staff it is your responsibility to manage the Director of Legislative Affairs (DLA) program area. Please explain your plan for managing the work of DLAs, including but not limited to: bill selection, interaction with bill authors, committee testimony, and cabinet argumentation. (Word Limit: 200)
