Hale Hōʻikeʻike houses an extensive collection of photographs, documents, articles, and records related to Hawaiian culture and the history of Maui. However, it is important to note that at this time Hale Hōʻikeʻike is not a dedicated research facility, and we rely entirely on volunteer archivists to assist with access to the collection.
Due to limited staffing resources, all access to the collection is by appointment only. Walk-ins will not be admitted. After submitting the research request form, please wait for a confirmation from us before arriving.
RESEARCH AND REPRODUCTION FEES
We charge fees to support the preservation and care of our collection. A $30.00 materials retrieval fee applies to all researchers before accessing the collection. If staff assistance is required beyond the initial 15 minutes, there is an additional fee of $75 per hour, with a one-hour minimum. Reproduction requests may take 7-10 days to process after payment is received. Cash or credit card accepted.
