NRC Family and Friends Survey
UPLC is a small non-profit office. Unfortunately, this means we are unable to respond to the high volume of calls and emails we are receiving regarding our class action lawsuit on prison conditions at the Northern Reception and Classification Center (NRC), Shipp v. Gomez. If your loved one is currently being held at NRC or was held at NRC any time after January 1, 2020, they may be included in our lawsuit. Please keep in mind that our lawsuit is NOT seeking monetary damages; we are seeking a court order requiring IDOC officials to fix the unconstitutional living conditions at NRC.

If you believe that your loved one is covered by our lawsuit and would like us to know about their experience, please fill out this survey. You can also encourage your loved one to write to our office at:

Uptown People's Law Center
4413 N. Sheridan
Chicago, IL 60640.

Again, we are unable to respond to individual calls regarding conditions at NRC. If you want us to know about your loved one's experience at NRC, you should fill out this survey and/or ask your loved one to write to us directly.
