Application for a PhD position in the School of Mechanical, Aerospace, and Manufacturing, University of Connecticut, USA (Fall 2024, Spring 2025)
Prof. Hongyi Xu, the PI of the Computational Engineering and Design Laboratory (CEaD), is recruiting PhD students with full financial support. The students will work on one of the below topics:
  • Deep learning-assisted predictive modeling and design of microstructures/ structures.
  • Predictive modeling and uncertainty quantification of manufacturing processes.
The student can choose to start in Fall 2024 or Spring 2025.

Qualifications:
  • B.S. or M.S. degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, engineering mechanics, computer science, civil engineering, material science, or closely related fields.
  • Programming skills in Python and/or MATLAB.
  • Experience in conducting Finite Element Analysis is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and machine learning is a plus.
  • Self-motivated, strong interests in coding and quantitative methods.
  • No unexplained gaps in the CV.
