Ladies Highland Open 2024

Competition Rules

1. The competition, played over Pitlochry Golf Course, shall be open to all Amateur Lady Golfers {including under 18 years} who are members of a recognised Golf Club and hold a WHS Index.

 2. Competitors must lodge their name, address and current handicap index and Membership number with Tournament Secretary. Entries will be accepted until the 29th of June or earlier if the limit of 120 has been reached.

 3. The entry fee is £95 for all golfers over the age of 21 years on the first day of the qualifying competition. The entry fee is £35 for those aged 21 years & under on the first day of the qualifying competition. Members of The Pitlochry Golf Club are entitled to a discounted entry fee, £45 and £25 for 21years and under. Entrants will have the courtesy of the course from Monday to Friday.

 On Monday, a medal competition for the Starters Cup will be played (optional). The Starters Cup will be awarded to the best nett score. Prizes also for Scratch, Division 1 & Division 2. Entry times can be requested for the Starters Cup on the Monday by entering a time zone on the entry form.

4. Qualifying Rounds: 18 holes, stroke play will be played on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The top 16 qualifiers in the Scratch and in each of Division 1 and Division 2 who have the lowest aggregate score over the two rounds will go forward into the Championship Matchplay Rounds.  In the event of a tie, the score from the second day shall decide.

Prizes will be awarded to the 1st and 2nd qualifiers in each section. Winners of scratch prizes will not be eligible for handicap prizes. Scratch takes precedence over handicap.

5.1 Match Play – Thursday and Friday: The 16 players with the lowest aggregate Scratch Scores will play for the Atholl Cup.

5.2 Match Play – Thursday and Friday: Of those not qualifying for the Atholl Cup, the 16 players with the lowest aggregate Nett Scores in Division 1 will play off under handicap for the Pecairn Cup.

5.3 Match Play – Thursday and Friday: The 16 players with the lowest aggregate Nett Scores in Division 2 will play off under handicap for the Craigower Trophy.

6. On Thursday, for those who have not qualified for the match play, an optional Greensomes competition will be played.

 7. On Friday an optional Stableford competition for those who have not qualified for the matchplay and any competitor who has been knocked out of the Thursday matchplay.

8. Handicapping: Max Course Handicap 38. Division 1 and Division 2 split will be decided by committee depending on numbers etc.

9. Transportation.

9.1 It shall be a condition of this competition that players must walk at all times during a stipulated round, unless permission to ride a golf cart/buggy has been authorised by a member of the Tournament Committee. If a player wishes to use a golf cart/buggy she must:

9.2 Provide a valid medical certificate.

9.3 Request to use the golf cart/buggy prior to the start of the competition. 

10. The committee reserves the right to reject any entry, to alter or amend any of the foregoing rules and to resolve finally, any dispute which may arise in connection with the tournament.

10.1 The committee reserves the right to alter the format of the tournament, as laid out, should the tournament be affected by inclement weather etc.

The winners of the trophies will be photographed with, and will have their names engraved upon, their respective trophies.
