We are so excited for the coming Uthden Troll Cup festival on 1, 2 and 3 November 2024 at Boutique Hotel Catshuis in Leeuwarden, the Netherlands. We hope you are too! This is your chance to participate.
We'll start on Thursday evening with a casual meeting in the Troll Cave in Grand Cafe Fire. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday we'll host a constructed event and a limited event, 6 in total over the weekend. We expect that the Old School event on Saturday for sure will not have enough spots to meet demand. Don't be too disappointed if you don't get a spot, after all there are still 5 other cool events that you can attend. Every day, there will be something for you to enjoy. And, if you participate in the Swaffel tournament, you'll have a chance to win a spot on the Old School event.
Besides magic-events there's a lot more you can enjoy. In our Artist room this year you can meet Drew Tucker, Anders Schmidt (AS Alters) and Buddy Jonker (Lost Viking Alters). So bring along some cards that you like to have signed, altered or just buy some cool stuff that they have to offer.
Of course our vendors Power Negen (Wijnand Schoenmakers) and Retromagic (Bram Luypaert) will be there for your much needed cards .
On top of all that we'll have some workshops, a live 'Monster of the Week'-show and the already legendary Pub-Quiz from Hall of Fame judge Jaap Brouwer.
Also this year we'll have another special event on Sunday. We will take a trip down memory lane to the World Championships of 1995, 1996, 1997 and 1998. How? Well, first and most by building a cube for each of those years. The cubes are build to recreate the meta of the World Championships as close as possible taking into account the legal standard expansions and the banned and restricted list at that moment. Due to card prices, for this event only, you don't get to keep the cards you draft. Obviously the cards of the top 8 decks of Worlds of that year will be well represented in the Cubes. Taking the top 8 decks is a good start but it is not the whole story. So in the build-up to UTC we will do a lot of research. The nice thing is that anyone who wants to help is welcome to do so. Anyone who signs up for this event can suggest changes to the cubes. Also some of the research-results will be presented or published during the Uthden Troll Cup. Let’s see what we can learn from the past!
Payments
Your spot is not secured until you have paid. In the second half of April we will confirm registrations to everyone and ask you to pay and secure your spots. Expect the price for each event to be slightly higher then last year due to inflation (inflation both in prices but definitely also because of crazy stuff we are producing to entertain you ;-)
Please make sure you register for all the events you'll like to participate in now, it's probably easier to cancel something, then to get a spot in a fully booked event.
If you are planning to attend one of the drafts on Friday or Saturday evening, but are also playing Swaffel or OS, there's a chance you will make it to top 8 and can't participate in the draft. In such case you'll get an immediate 100% refund for the draft.
Cancellations
Maybe you are registering but are not sure you can attend yet. Or maybe life happens and you have to cancel. Good to know that if you cancel before October 1st you will get a full refund. After October 1 unfortunately we cannot refund you due to contracted obligations.
Lunch & Diners
In the Swaffel, Old School, PreModern and Special Sealed events lunch and/or diner is included in the price.
You will receive a google form a few weeks before the event starts to address special diet wishes etc.
