Specialist Selection for 2022-23
You will pick your choices for specialist classes for next school year!  Pick your top 2 choices and we will try to schedule you in those options.

Options include:

Visual Arts:
Students work with a variety of artist mediums, including drawing, painting, ceramics, and sculpture. Students use daily sketchbooks to develop skills, technique, and reflect on their artwork. Themes and project focus will include observational drawing, color theory, abstract art, printmaking, graphic design, community arts, artist research and art history.

Level I Students focus on basic Artist Fundamentals
Level II Students will focus on advanced drawing and painting techniques

Band:
The objectives of the Anwatin Middle School Bands are to provide a large instrumental ensemble for students to experience all aspects relative to the performance of varying levels of band music. These ensembles will perform various types of music. Bands will also perform in seasonal concerts at our school. Most of all this is going to be a great experience and a fun time!  If you have ever thought about playing a band instrument, this is your chance! There will be hard work involved, but you will like the results!

Music:
The objectives of the Anwatin Music Exploration course is to provide an opportunity for students to experience various aspects relative to the creation, notation and analyzation of music. Various types of music, including standard repertoire of artistic and educational natures, will be studied. This class also has a piano, composition, guitar, brass, percussion, and vocal pedagogy component.

 Anwatin’s Music exploration class is open to any student regardless of music background experience.


Performance Arts:
Students will work together as an ensemble to create and perform both scripted & original work in a variety of styles, including: Musical Theatre, Theatre/Dance Fusion, Shakespeare, Film, Spoken Word and Debate-Style Theatre. The focus of the class will be collaboration, community, critical-thinking, acting/directing, and performance. Open to all students in grades 6-8, all classes will be multi-grade.
