Jumpstart First Grade @TPAC
Mrs. Sara Foster will be leading the workshop using EBLI, or Evidence-Based Literacy Instruction, a literacy program based on the science of reading. It is designed to teach students how to read, write, and spell at all levels of ability. EBLI is based on the following principles:
  • Phonics: Students learn the sounds of the letters and how to blend them together to form words.
  • Vocabulary: Students learn new words through a variety of activities, such as reading, writing, and speaking.
  • Comprehension: Students learn how to understand what they read by using a variety of strategies, such as asking questions, making predictions, and summarizing.
  • Fluency: Students learn to read smoothly and accurately by reading aloud frequently.
  • Writing: Students learn how to write effectively by practicing a variety of writing skills, such as grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
  • Spelling: Students learn how to spell words correctly by using a variety of strategies, such as phonics, memory, and context clues.

EBLI has been shown to be effective in helping students improve their reading, writing, and spelling skills. It is a comprehensive program that can be used with students of all ages and ability levels.
