MISSION
Weinberg/Newton Gallery is a non-commercial gallery with a mission to collaborate with nonprofit organizations and artists to educate and engage the public on social justice issues. Through artwork and programming, the gallery provides a vital space for open discourse on critical contemporary issues facing our communities. Connecting artists with social justice organizations, we work to drive change and cultivate a culture of consciousness.

WE OFFER FREE EXHIBITION TOURS + WORKSHOPS
As part of our mission to create space for dialogue about the many social justice issues that concern our local Chicago community and beyond, Weinberg/Newton Gallery offers free educational tours and workshops to student groups. Each workshop involves inquiry-based exploration of the current exhibition, creative response exercises, and art making activities.

CURRENT EXHIBITION
For Those Without Choice presented in Partnership with Planned Parenthood of Illinois explores reproductive freedom through the perspective of of twenty-four artists. 

On view January 20 through April 15, 2023. 

UPCOMING EXHIBITION 
Presented in partnership with The Gun Violence Prevention Political Action Committee (G-PAC) this exhibition will explore gun violence. 

On view May 5 through August 12, 2023. 

VISIT OPTIONS

GUIDED EXHIBITION TOUR + WORKSHOP (recommended for youth groups ages 11-20 )
In the gallery, go on an interactive tour that promotes inquiry, critical thinking, dialogue, and closer looking. In the program space, experiment with materials to create artwork inspired by the themes explored in the exhibition. Tour and workshop lasts approximately one and a half hours and can be modified as necessary.

GUIDED EXHIBITION TOUR (recommended for adult groups)
Our guided tours use an interactive approach to learning to provide social and cultural contexts for understanding art and engaging with social justice issues. We will focus on a selection of works to promote group conversation, critical thinking, and closer looking. Tour lasts approximately one hour and can be modified as necessary.

VISIT INFORMATION

• All exhibition tours and workshops are FREE of charge.

• You may also bring your group in anytime during gallery hours for a self-guided tour.

• Please note we can only accommodate a maximum of 35 students per workshop.

• Exhibition tours and workshops are by appointment only Tuesday - Saturday 10am - 5pm

• Special arrangements can be made for evening tours and workshops

• Reservations for an exhibition tour and workshop are required at least two weeks in advance

• We offer partial and full transportation subsidies to schools/organizations in need
