The Native Habitat Program is a dynamic grassroots education initiative dedicated to transforming urban environments into thriving wildlife habitats, specifically tailored to support and protect threatened wildlife. Our comprehensive program offers CCSD K-12 teachers an exceptional opportunity to engage students in environmental education while providing the necessary technical assistance to design and establish captivating pollinator, bird, or Desert Tortoise habitats right within your school grounds.

What the Native Habitat Program Offers:

Elementary Schools:

  1. Engaging Classroom Programs: Three interactive 1-hour sessions that explore the rich biodiversity of the Mojave Desert, pollinator conservation, or birding 101.
  2. Expert Guidance: Receive technical assistance to design and implement a vibrant garden.
  3. Enriching Field Trips: Take your students on inspiring field trips to nearby breathtaking Public Lands, immersing them in the wonders of nature.
  4. Essential Tools and Materials: We provide plants and gardening tools to establish and maintain your school's native habitat.

Middle and High Schools:

  1. Tailored Classroom Programs: Customized 1-hour sessions that focus on various career paths, essential job skills, and basic horticulture concepts.
  2. Professional Support: Benefit from expert guidance in designing and implementing a captivating garden.
  3. Inspiring Field Trips: Treat your students to unforgettable field trips to magnificent Public Lands, fostering a deep connection with nature.
