Santa's Robotics Workshop
Workshop Information:
This season Santa needs some help delivering presents!

The Sharon Robotics Teams will be hosting a 2-day robotics workshop to prepare all inquiring elves (students) with the necessary skills to help Santa deliver his gifts over Christmas break! Taught by the Sharon Robotics Teams, elves will learn how to program a LEGO Spike Prime Robot and have some completing the Christmas themed tasks! This 2-day workshop will take place in-person at Case Avenue Elementary School in Sharon. This camp is a beginner camp and no prior robotics/programming experience is needed to attend. All robots and materials will be provided for the two days.  

Age:
Students must currently be in 3rd through 6th grade to participate. Applicants can be from any school district in the region.

Time:
Workshop will run on December 27th and 28th from 10 AM - 2:30 PM on both days.

Location:
The workshop will be located in the cafeteria at Case Elementary School, 36 Case Avenue, Sharon.  Participants are expected to arrive on-time and enter the exterior doors at the playground entrance off of Case Avenue. These  doors will be used for students to enter and dismiss from the workshop. Students must have their own transportation to and from the camp on a daily basis.

Cost: Tuition fee is $50. After being accepted, Tuition is due by December 20th. If payment is not received by the deadline, applicant will be placed on a wait-list status.  Cash or check is acceptable.  Checks are to be made payable to the “Sharon Robotics Boosters” and are due by/on December 20, 2021. Tuition can be dropped off at the school office or can be mailed using the address below.

Lunch:  Students will need to pack a lunch on both days of the workshop.

Workshop Curriculum:
Participants will have a two-day opportunity to program a Spike Prime Robot.  Students will challenged to guide Santa through the town delivering gifts! Students will focus on beginner robot behaviors and no prior knowledge is needed to participate.  Lessons to program a robot to move forward, turn, and use of sensors will be just a few highlights of the two days!   Students will follow the engineering process and program a robot to solve challenges.  

Instructor:
The workshop will be taught by Mr. Tomko, a sixth-grade teacher and robotics coach, and members from the Sharon Robotics Teams. Members from the robotics teams will include students from 6th-12th grades who have experience/ knowledge in programming/robotics.  

Deadline to Apply:
Online application submissions will be accepted until December 20, 2021.  However, please be aware, this workshop will fill quickly.  Students will be accepted to the camp on a first come, first serve basis – as there are 26 seats available.  If the workshop fills to capacity, a wait list will be used for interested participants. Students who apply will be notified of acceptance status or wait list status within 24 hours of application being received.
