Cultivating your Mindfulness Garden:  Zen Based Mindfulness training

Randy Wolbert, LMSW, Zen Rōshi and Ronda Reitz, PhD will be offering a 6-week virtual mindfulness training in January and February 2023. ​

Wednesdays beginning January 4th through February 8th, 2023

4:00pm to 6:00pm Eastern Standard Time (UTC - 5:00)

Cost: $350(USD) per person

About the Training
The practice of Zen originated from Buddhism in China around the 6th century. Zen is the practice of mindful meditation. The practice is compatible with other spiritual practices including Christian contemplation, Kabbalah and Sufism. It was studied extensively by Marsha Linehan and is fully integrated into the practice of DBT. This workshop will explore the origins of mindfulness in psychotherapy, how to practice Zen meditation, the specific Zen related skills contained in DBT and developing and/or sustaining your own mindfulness practice.
Format
This training will be offered virtually over Zoom. 
There are a total of six two-hour blocks held weekly on Wednesdays. 
Daily mindfulness practice between training segments is an expected part of participation. 
Training Facilitators
Randy Wolbert, LMSW, Zen Rōshi, is a long time Zen student of Marsha Linehan. Randy was recognized by Willigis Jaeger as a Zen teacher in 2016 and was confirmed as a Zen teacher in 2018 by Marsha Linehan. In 2021 he received transmission as a dharma heir of Zen Master (Rōshi) Greg Mayers. He has lead mindfulness workshops and Zen mindfulness retreats in the US, Canada, Mexico, Argentina, Chile, and Germany.

He is a certified DBT Practitioner and a former full time trainer and consultant with Behavioral tech. He has Close to 30 years of experience in the provision of DBT

Ronda Reitz, PhD, is a co-facilitator. Well-known as a trainer in the DBT community, more details about her bio will be coming to our website soon.
Training Objectives
  1. Describe and practice techniques of Zen Meditation (There is an expectation of short daily practice during the duration of the course)
  2. Describe the relationship between meditation and mindfulness
  3. List at least three ways that Zen and Behavior Therapy are compatible
  4. Describe Wise mind as the synthesis of doing and being mind
  5. Describe the role of radical acceptance in the reduction of suffering
  6. List the 4 noble truths and the middle path
  7. Develop a plan of starting and/or sustaining a mindfulness practice

CANCELLATIONS AND REFUNDS

Requests for refunds must be made in writing.  Full refunds minus $50 will be made for requests made by December 20th. No refunds will be made thereafter.
