TAPS is an ALL-VOLUNTEER organization of GHS parents and community members that supports the Guilford High School Theater Arts (GHSTA) program. TAPS members and board members meet monthly, September through May, the first Monday of the month by zoom (unless there is a holiday). Meeting dates will be announced by email to the TAPS email listserv, will be posted on social media, are listed on our website. All are welcome to attend our monthly meetings. Publicity: Volunteers help hang posters around town to publicize the production.

Refreshments: Donated refreshments and snacks are sold at each performance for enjoyment in the Commons area (no food or drink is allowed in the theater). 100% of the proceeds support TAPS. We need several volunteers to sell refreshments at each performance (prior to the performance, at intermission and post-performance.) A request for food/drink donations is sent out to GHSTA families in advance of the production.

Flowers/Cast-O-Gram: Flowers and Cast-O-Grams are available for purchase at each performance. Cast-O-Grams are personalized notes for members of the Cast, Crew & Pit that are delivered to students on performance day. Help with Flowers and Cast-O-Grams is needed prior to each performance, at intermission, and after each performance.

Tech Week Meals: Tech Week is the week leading up to the performance. Cast, Crew and Pit stay at school much later than during other rehearsal weeks. Support is needed during Tech Week to set up and serve the meals to students, and clean up afterwards.

Chaperones: Chaperones are backstage to assist students, if needed, and maintain quiet. Usually, three are needed for each performance. Watch while a whirlwind of activity goes on backstage. It’s an incredible way to feel the excitement and help out. You must be Helping Hands trained.

Spirit Wear and Production T-Shirts: Production-specific t-Shirts are made available for purchase to the students for each show. Parent volunteers coordinate the delivery of the shirts. We are also looking for volunteers to help order and stock GHSTA spirit wear.

Wrap Party: (Multiple Parent Volunteers Needed – host, setup, cleanup). After the final performance of the Fall and Spring productions, we need a family to volunteer their home for the Wrap Party. Students must submit a permission slip and a fee to attend. Very clear rules and guidelines apply for this event. TAPS pays for all food and provides volunteers to help at the event.

Annual Membership to TAPS starts at $40. Any amount is appreciated. TAPS membership comes with benefits including early ticket sales for members and TAPS scholarship eligibility for Seniors.
