ROE #3 Annual Librarians Training

Join ROE #3 on March 1, 2023 for our annual school librarians training. This year we are welcoming Amanda Jones as our presenter. Amanda is a school librarian and certified reading specialist from Watson, Louisiana. She is passionate about school library advocacy, using EdTech in school libraries, and promoting the love of reading. This training will take place virtually on March 1, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. A Google Meet link will be sent out prior to the training. The cost to attend this training is $75/person. Each participant will receive 3.0 PD hours upon completion of the training. 

Battle of the Books & Other Reading Programs

Interested in starting a Battle of the Books program at your school? See how Amanda Jones created her own school battle that has transformed into a district-wide book battle, involving all 11 middle and junior high schools in the district. It’s an exciting way to encourage reading while giving students a platform to compete with their peers. Other programs such as MESH, 40 Book Challenge will be discussed, along with programming ideas such as Flashlight Friday, First Chapter Monday, and Author Fan Face Off.

Talk Techie To Me: Technology Tips & Tricks for School Librarians

Are you curious to learn about new ways of incorporating innovative technology into your school library program? Join this powerful session on virtual author visits, open education digital resources, green screening, Microsoft Flip, augmented reality, digital storytelling, virtual field trips, and much more! New ideas will be explored and examples given to use every day in the library. Attendees will discover ways to utilize technology to meet AASL and ISTE standards, as well as collaborate with teachers on core subject standards. Walk away with advice on how to get started and a TON of new links to information, apps, and websites.

Incorporating Social Emotional Programming In School Libraries

School librarians teach every child in their school and have the opportunity to create critical conversations during lessons and read alouds. We will examine how stories can meet our students’ social emotional needs in culturally responsive ways and explore ways in which a school library’s program can empower students to recognize their own strengths and grow cognitively, emotionally, and socially.
