- We have zero tolerance for discrimination, harassment or bullying in any form. Disruptive conduct, including physical or verbal abuse toward committee members, volunteers, participants/contestants, head staff, visitors, and others, will not be tolerated and may result in disqualification.
- Dancers must register and submit their videos within the designated week period. Contesting Schedule is as follows:
April 5-10: Golden Age (Women), Jingle, Fancy Shawl (Women)
April 12-17: Golden Age (Men), Grass, Fancy Dance (Men)
April 19-24: N Traditional (Women), S Traditional (Women), Chicken, Tiny Tots
April 26-May 1: N Traditional (Men), S Traditional (Men), Junior Exhibition, Hoop Dance
- Dancers may register in only one category, and once registered, cannot switch categories. It is the dancer’s responsibility to ensure they are registered in the correct category.
- Dancers must dance to the assigned songs associated with each category. All categories have two (2) competition songs.
- Videos should NOT display the name and tribal affiliation of the contestant in order to make judging as fair as possible.
- All videos must be submitted to the portal by the deadline* in order to qualify for judging.
*NOTE: If you experience technical difficulties while uploading your video submission, contact Marilyn Frank (
mjfrank1@stanford.edu) or Sierra Edwards (
sedwar@stanford.edu) within 12 hours of the deadline to inform them of your situation.
- Late registrations and video submissions will not be accepted.
- Dancer understands and gives permission to the Stanford Powwow to post submitted video during the live streaming of the 50th Annual Stanford Powwow.
- Contest will be on a point system. Points will be accumulated through videos submitted.
- Final decisions on these rules rest with the Head Judge, Arena Director, and Powwow Committee Chairs.
- All winners will be announced Sunday, May 9, 2021.
- Winner payouts:
-- Winners will be contacted by the Stanford Powwow Planning Committee to collect necessary information to process the payout through Stanford University.
