School Site Council Parent Biographies for 21-22 school year
Please read the qualifications of parents listed below.  You will be asked to vote for 3 candidates to serve on the Horner School Site Council for the 2021-2022 school year.  This form is to allow parents an opportunity to read about the candidates.  The actual ballot will be coming out at the end of July for you to vote on 3 candidates of your choice. Candidate 1:  Shilpa Verma -I wish to apply for the parent member open position with the School Site Council. As a parent in FUSD and resident of Fremont, I am truly vested and believe the success of schools lies with the collaborative and volunteering approach between the community and the schools. As a parent of 14 years in FUSD; Older one is now a sophomore in college and the younger one at Horner,  I have had the  fortunate experience of volunteering in different capacities at Elementary, Middle and High School.  During my years as a parent at Weibel (the elementary school my kids went to), I have actively volunteered both within their PTO and with the school site council.  In addition, during my years as a parent at Weibel (the elementary school my kids went to), I have actively volunteered both within their PTO and with the school site council.  Additionally, As a PTO member at Weibel, I have chaired school wide events – Wildcat Run, Movie Nites, International Night, Raised $10K for a school carnival event and sourced 50 vendors through tenacious networking and my biggest investment was Initiating and championing a collaborative partnership with the district to “Go Green” and take the Maze Day process online. Weibel was the pilot school to go online and my involvement included Collaborating with parents, teachers, office staff and district tech to organize and launch initiatives that benefitted all stakeholders, through demonstrating exemplary organization, communication, and relationship building skills.  Initiated and championed a collaborative partnership with the district to “Go Green” and take the Maze Day process online. At Irvington, I was part of the Quest panel for 4 years. At Horner, I am an active PTSA member and have co-chaired the Reflections Program and the recent Virtual Talent Show.
Candidate 2:  Padma Kadiyala:   Hi I am Padma Kadiyala working as an IT Analyst and a mom of two children. I have one son in Horner and one in Irvington High. I've always been active at my children's activities and whenever possible volunteer in school for various activities. I would love to serve the families of Horner, I have previously volunteered for the Hirsch and Irvington School for over 2 years! . I have been working as a Treasure at my son's Boys Scouts for the past 5 years. I am passionate for our youth and their academic success! Please vote for me, it would be my privilege to serve your child and you into a healthy school year. Thank you!!!
Candidate 3: Monobina Saha:  I am Monobina Saha, married with two kids and have lived in Warm Springs, Fremont for the last 5 years. I have completed my Masters in Electrical & Computer Engineering from North Dakota State University. Currently I am working full time in the Software Engineering field as an Engineering Manager managing multiple projects and delivering to the end clients. So, I am educated in an American University and a successful business woman. I am also raising two children - elder one currently a Sophomore in Irvington High School and younger one will start in Horner Junior High School. I take care of elderly parents at my home. I achieved balance in all aspects of life and I believe that I have a vision to positively impact the world. So, I want to conclude by saying that I want to get involved in the Horner School Site Council as I want to be involved with the school and help the respected Principal to make decisions that positively impact our children in their academics and mental health during their time in Horner.
Candidate 4:  Anil Balivada -I feel strongly that children are our future and they are the building blocks of this community and country.  They need a solid education that gives them a good foundation in developing the skills that they need in building their personal and professional life.  We encourage these children to keep on learning throughout their lives with proper education to overcome the tough challenges like what we’re going through in this pandemic.  Their educational setting should mirror the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity that makes up our wonderful city of Fremont. I am a parent of two lovely daughters who attended and attending Horner Middle School.  My elder daughter attended in the year 2010 – 2012 and my younger one is attending 2020 – 2023 and we have been in this quiet, diversified, and lovely neighborhood for more than a decade.  I am by a profession a policy leader in the State Government with a background in Engineering and Business Administration.  I have more than 25 years of experience in the government/ public and private sectors in various capacities.  I served several non-profit organization boards and successfully started and run two start-up companies.  I always see an opportunity to give back to the community and I think this would be a great opportunity.  My strong background in understanding government processes, policies, regulations, and procedures will help develop the School Site Plan for Pupil Achievement, in conjunction with the Principal, and achieved the desired school goals. I appreciate your support and giving me this opportunity to serve the school with great accountability to provide guidance in their needs.
Candidate 5: Therese Gonzales-Cortes -My name is Therese Gonzales-Cortes. I am a former Horner student and I also graduated from Irvington High School. I have a Bachelor’s and Master’s in Social Work. I currently work as a Child Welfare Social Worker. I have served in leadership positions, including Student Director of National Association of Social Workers, during my time in grad school. I am interested in joining the School Site Council to collaborate and brainstorm with the Horner community what the best learning environment for our children would be.
Candidate 6: Rakhi Israni -I would be interested in serving on the School Site Council for the 2021-2022 school year.  I will have two children attending Horner this next year: Siya in 8th and Shiv in 6th.  Siya completed her 7th at Horner, and Shiv attended Warm Springs this past school year for 5th.  I have served on the School Site Councils for both Leitch and Warm Springs.  I served as the President of the Warm Springs PTA for this past year.  
Candidate 7: JANE MAHATDEJKUL -My name is Jane Mahatdejkul =  A working parent in digital transformation, who's been in Fremont over eight years, is very interested in supporting the school in nurturing young kids to  overcome education, social, including life challenges in order to prepare them to become a competent young adults.
Candidate 8:  JUHI GOEL -I volunteer in many class activities. I am not working anywhere and good in computers.
