In what parish activities/organizations/services have you participated? In what capacity? In what Parish?

I have been an assistant coach for many different athletic teams over the years at Our Sts. Joachim and Ann, Lady of Sorrows, and South City Catholic Academy. My family has also served for parish picnics at both Our Lady of Sorrows and Epiphany Catholic churches. I was the first SCA (South City Catholic Academy PTA) president for three years managing the merge of Our Lady of Sorrows and St. Joan of Arc schools into South City Catholic Academy.

Will you be able to prepare for and participate in monthly board meetings?

I have committed to coaching and assistant coaching 3 baseball teams this spring and three soccer teams in the fall and my wife is committed to coaching 3 volleyball teams this fall. She is also on PTO and we are taking over the outdoor concession stand. That being said, we have surrounded ourselves with good friends and family we know we can count on for support. I believe this is a task we can tackle.

Why do you want to serve on the School Board?

I want to be on the J&A School board because our four kids spend most of their time at the school. I believe taking an active role in our children's school sets an example to our kids to serve in the communities they belong to while also working to better their experiences.

What do you consider the most important issue facing Catholic education in the future? Why?

A year ago I would have said the cost of schooling and the lack of attendance was going to be hitting a breaking point as it has been in St. Louis city over the past 5 to 10 years. I still believe it is going to be the primary issue as we go forward but I would add accessibility. With the changes the Archdiocese is planning on making, I believe travel times and school accessibility may be the perfect excuse for more families to take advantage of the strong public schools around us.
