The California Youth Leadership Corps (CYLC) is a transformative program designed to empower individuals from diverse and nontraditional backgrounds to create social change and make a positive impact on their communities. Our program spans three academic quarters, Fall 2024, Winter 2025 and Spring 2025, offering participants the opportunity to earn a Certificate in Leadership and Social Change from De Anza College.
During the program, students will receive mentor support and engage in a community internship, check ins with the mentor and program staff that will provide opportunities for personal growth and practical application of knowledge. Additionally, participants gain hands-on experience participating by interning at one of our community sites. There is a 10 hour a week commitment for the community internship through out the entire duration of the program.
Participants have the opportunity to earn up to $10,000 for their active involvement in the program. Additionally, they will have their educational expenses covered, as well as the chance to receive a completion bonus. The total benefits received, including earnings, educational support, and bonuses can be up to $15,000!
