The British Equestrian Trade Association (BETA) is pleased to be able to offer a 2 day training course on the essentials of flocking.
This course will be lead by Ian Silman, Master Saddler and will be primarily practical in nature.
It will take place at the Saddlery Training Centre in Walsall with kind permission of the Worshipful Company of Saddlers. This course is meant to provide you with an understanding of and practice in the basic skills of flocking. You will be shown how to drop a panel, reflock and then sew the panel back in. It does NOT include any form of assessment and completion does NOT result in any form of qualification.
You should bring with you a saddle to take apart and reflock. If you are coming from overseas and unable to bring a saddle with you, please let us know so that we can try and source one for you.
You will also have the use of transparent panels to practice on and white wool flock.
The Course will be run on 5 & 6 September, from 9.30 - 4pm on both days. Attendance is limited to 6 delegates only.
Flocking tools must be brought with you to the course - A list of essential tools will be sent to all delegates. It may be possible for us to source sets, including flocking irons, for delegates to purchase and receive at the course if there is a demand. A list of these and costs can also be provided.
Cost (plus VAT):
BETA Members - £350 + VAT for the two days
SMS Members - £375 + VAT for the two days
NON- BETA Members - £400 + VAT for the two days
On booking, an invoice will be sent for payment (American Express not accepted). Payment must be received for your place on the course to be confirmed.
Tea, coffee and water will be provided but please bring your lunch - there are places nearby to purchase lunch and other refreshments.
