Mindsets 1
"The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” -- Plutarch, Moralia

When you think about student learning, what image springs to mind?  Are students empty vessels that we fill with knowledge, or is something else going on?  Participants in this workshop will discuss various theories of teaching and learning learning put forward by educators, activists, psychologists, and neuroscientists, as well as interrogate our own mindsets.  We will then consider ways to  use learning theories in our own class practices to encourage deeper, lasting student learning.
