Queen Mary Criminal Justice Society is organising its first debate competition in 2021. The first round will be held at the end of January 2021. The competition will be held virtually and is open to QMUL student members of the Queen Mary Criminal Justice Society.
Competition Date: First round is at the end of January 2021. Participants will be notified further of the date for the next round.
Competition Platform: Zoom
Each team must consist of 2 students and you can choose whether to register individually or in a pair.
If you choose to register in a team, both you and your partner will need to complete the registration form separately.
If you are signing up individually, we will randomly pair you up with another participant.
On the other hand, if you sign up as a pair but your partner does not pass the selection stage while you do, we will also pair you up with another participant.
To sign up for the competition, you will need to complete a short exercise. You will be required to pick a stand either 'for' or 'against' to the statement "The house believes society is becoming too dependent on technology" and set out three arguments on your position.
Make sure you have signed up to be a member of the QM Criminal Justice Society to participate in the competition. You can sign up to become a member here:
