Dawson ISD hopes to operate on a traditional schedule, offering a face-to-face education experience as close to normal as possible, including cafeteria meals and recess. Dawson ISD, along with the American Academy of Pediatrics, agrees that a safe return to school this fall is in the best interest of student's education and their social and emotional health. Dawson will have students thermally scanned for temperatures, scanners have been installed at each entrance. Robust hygiene practices will be added; these include more hand sanitizer stations, required hand washing breaks, increased custodial staff, placing air filtration systems in each classroom. Students choosing not to attend; or unable to participate in a traditional school setting due to illness will be offered a robust asynchronous online learning program.
