Washington DC: Capital of Neoliberalism Walking Tour- Sign Up Form
This is the place to register in advance for the Washington DC: Capital of Neoliberalism Walking Tour, starting at 1:00 pm at Farragut Square NW in downtown Washington DC. The tour will explore 4 sites in the area connected to how neoliberal tactics were exported from international institutions in the District -and how they came to local governance. The Walking Tour will be led by Christy Thornton, whose writing and work includes a focus on how international institutions have interfaced with Latin America -and how resistance to those institutions through large scale protests and social movements has shaped their policies and meetings. The Walking Tour will connect the rise of neoliberal methods abroad and locally to the front doors of the institutions that built our world, with contemporary connections to ongoing campaigns to democratize DC and build international socialism led by Metro DC DSA.
The tour will visit 4 sites in Downtown DC. The tour will meet in Farragut Square at 1:00 p.m., and the tour will adjourn at 3:00 p.m. at the Wilson Building after 2 miles of walking. The tour will be followed by a happy hour afterward at outdoor tables at the Penn Quarter Sports Tavern. We will provide snacks and water on the tour. Sign up here if you may attend and indicate your ability to volunteer. The Washington DC: Capital of Neoliberalism Walking Tour is hosted by Metro DC DSA and sponsored by its Internationalism Working Group.
