if you are here, you probably already know Altofest, maybe someone told you about it, you gathered information about us, checked out our website, probably searching for the past editions, watching videos, pictures, reading documents, asking yourself about who its creators and curators are.
If you are going to fill the form to send us your proposals, certainly you have been carefully reading the guidelines and the conditions of our invitation to participate in Altofest. Therefore, we assume that you understand the principles of Altofest, which is a completely independent project, and we hope you share the political responsibility and the poetic direction at the heart of the project exposed by the same structure of Altofest.

Since you are going to send us your proposals, we want to tell you more about the place and the experience that you will be encountering.

TeatrInGestAzione conceives Altofest as a shared and extended live performance, in which artists and authors, from different disciplines, have the opportunity to question their artistic processes and works, publicly and collectively.

Altofest emancipates itself from the common consideration about festivals, as mere “programming” and/or “production” of plays and artworks; instead, it prefigures itself as a space for an experimental sociality.

By creating Altofest we want to deeply question ourselves about the need to generate new values, reshape our relationship with places, subverting the use of spaces and the assignment of fixed roles; daring overruns that were never attempted before (regarding discipline, responsibility, action).

Then, ALTOFEST is a Permanent Observatory focused on the “aesthetic experience”. Artists are invited to be part of the program for a reflection and they shall connect their own project to the principle from which the festival is generated: Give Rise To.

For this reason, to choose among your possible proposals, we suggest artists not to focus on easily adaptable artworks. Indeed, the main opportunity offered by Altofest is precisely the potential of a new elaboration of the artistic structure, the essence and the direction of each work, in relation to the specific place and unique relationships that define it.  

Please, consider the following Form as the first step in our mutual understanding; as an invitation to meet on a common ground of risk, to build together a space for reflection and critical thinking, a multicultural international meeting that will be able to rethink the role of contemporary art in society.
