Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering for the LCF, which is based at St. James Church Hall,1 East Ham Road, Littlehampton, BN17 7AN.

We have a number of specific roles, please see the list below and click on the filename to see a longer description of what what we need.

Once you have submitted your registration form, you will usually be asked to do a  taster' session of the role with an experienced volunteer, to ensure that the reality matches your expectations! 

After a successful trial, you will be asked to complete some online training modules (such as Food Hygiene and Manual Handling), unless you already have equivalent up-to-date certificates. 

Please note, we will try to find you a suitable role but unfortunately we cannot always guarantee this.

Pre-session Monitor - Before sessions, and on Tuesdays and Sundays we need to do lots of checks, cleaning and food sorting to make sure we are ready to open for business.

Session Monitor - The LCF currently opens in the mornings on a Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and an afternoon session on a Wednesday. Session Monitors help restock, clean and make the food available to the community.

Surplus Food Collector Collectors: Often late evening volunteers required as this is when most supermarkets donate their surplus. We have teams which meet to help collect from store, unload, weigh, sort and document the donations. We drive to get over 100 collections per week from different stores at various times from 7am - 9. 30pm, 7 days a week. You do need to be physically fit, and have access to a vehicle to transport the food (expenses are available) or to wish to drive our refrigerated van.

Fridge on Tour Team Members.  The ‘fridge on tour’ loads up surplus food from the St. James Church Hall, and drives to several different locations (Angmering, East Preston, Rustington) for a short time in each location for locals to collect. This is done a couple of times during the week, and a Saturday in Rustington.
