IMPORTANT ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:
NEW WITH APEX: Not making progress? Your account will close.  You will need to wait for the next session to reenroll. Students are expected to attend classes in the building with licensed teachers each day or present an excused email or note to the teacher or until the course has been satisfactorily completed.  This is NOT a drop in program.

If a there is a once-in-a-lifetime family event or another reason for which the district would accept as an excused absence,  the parent must inform the ALC teacher or office staff PRIOR to the session start date to determine if the student will be able to meet the required attendance and thus enroll. For all other absences (e.g. illness, doctor or dentist appointment) the parent/guardian must contact the ALC attendance line at 651-351-8472.  Three (3) UNEXCUSED absence will result in the student account being deactivated this year and being dropped. Students who do not stay on track to meet the target completion date risk being dropped from the program.

COURSE EXPECTATIONS
APEX courses are standards based. These courses include: English 9, 10, 11, 12; Science 9, Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Geometry, Advanced Algebra/Algebra w Quads, Algebra 3, Health, PE, Geography/Global Studies, World History, US History, Economics, and Government.

As we transition to APEX, a new student friendly an standards based delivery method in 2019-2020.  Therefore, your past archived progress in the past district program will be calculated so the remaining percentage is finished using our newly adopted APEX digital learning program. This will happen day 1 of the program if not before. You will know what is expected as teachers can see your past program results.

Computers for student use are provided in the classroom. Students may use their own electronic devises to do additional work outside of  the classroom where there is internet access. This allows motivated students to move more quickly through the program and optimize credit earning. Students who complete their course and the required attendance hours prior to the end of the session, do not have to continue until the session itself is over. Students must have a school google account to participate. New students will get an account at the start of the program.

CREDIT
To be awarded credit, students must  attend and satisfactorily complete 100% of the course. Partial credit is not awarded in Credit Recovery and extensions are not available beyond the program dates.  Grades will post at the end of semester unless otherwise warranted. Students making up credit through Credit Recovery are not awarded letter grades. Once a student has completed all requirements, a P/Pass grade is recorded in the Skyward student transcript. A student who is dropped because of behavior or attendance receives no credit and no mark on the transcript. Parents need to support the serious commitment as there are clear and revised expectations this year.

ALL students are to conduct themselves in a respectful manner. All District 834 discipline policies apply in this after school program. If a student is referred to an administrator, a parent/guardian will be contacted and a decision will be made as to whether the student can remain in the program. Teachers will distribute and review behavioral, academic, and entrance and exit expectations. Expectations are sent upon verification, read to students and are handed out day one for return signatures.

Please pre-read this expectation list with your student/parent. You can launch making a copy of the link below and add to your search bar for program expectations for students:          http://bit.ly/2EEe8bq
