Pet owners: Please submit the following form to request a surrender appointment. The more information you can provide us about your pet and your situation, the better we will be able to assist you. It can take up to five business days for someone to get back to you. Please be sure to check your junk and spam folders for our emails as well.

If you are inquiring about surrendering your pet, please note that we may not be able to immediately accommodate your request, the process can take as many as 8 weeks. We urge pet owners to exhaust all options and resources provided before surrendering their pet so that we are able to reserve space for animals with the greatest need. We accept animals on a space-available basis and do not accept owner requested euthanasia or unhealthy/unfriendly pets.

Surrender fees are $55 per dog and $42 per cat, plus $18 per day for boarding (minimum $126). For all other animals, the cost is $12 plus $18 per day for boarding (minimum $84).

Please note that animals surrendered to the shelter become property of the City of Fremont. While we will make every effort to find placement for your pet, we cannot guarantee that it will be adopted. Pets surrendered to the shelter will be considered for adoption, transfer to a rescue group, or humane euthanasia. We cannot guarantee placement of your surrendered animal.
