Family Formals
You would not think family formals (FF) would be the most stressful part of the day, but more times than not, it 100% is! If your family is anything like mine, rounding up 20+ of them can make you want to pull your hair out. For me at my own wedding, it is was my mom requesting 30 extra images with people I barely knew and my Uncle Larry disappearing for 20 minutes to grab some appetizers. Spend some time on this page at least a few weeks before the wedding to help this part of the day run smoothly!

The more we have in print beforehand, the easier FF will go! I will print your shot list before the wedding. If you have booked a second shooter, they will help instruct family members when it is their turn for pictures. If there is no second shooter, make sure to ask a family member or bridesmaid to help organize and call people for shots.

Although it is up to you, I recommend no more than 12 sets for formals total. It will take 2-3 minutes for each set, so the more sets you have the longer we will take. And remember, we can always take more images during the reception. Reception is the perfect time to gather up a large group of aunts and uncles or college friends.

Quick Tips:
1. Send out a text or email to those who are going to be in FF reminding them what time FF will be taking place.
2. If you keep your FF short, I recommend choosing to do your FF before the ceremony. That way you can go straight into your party or bridal party pictures.
3. If you have your FF after the ceremony, ask your officiant to announce: "Anyone who has been asked to stay for family formals, please remain seated. Everyone else, please exit quickly so photos can begin promptly." This way no one who is supposed to be in pictures runs off, and people who aren't in photos won't stop you or get in the way of photos.
