Kangatraining is a safe, gentle, low impact, fun fitness class for mums and bubs. It is specifically designed for postnatal women and is the ultimate babywearing dance based workout. We focus on rebuilding your entire body after pregnancy, through a fun & energetic class. Babies are worn in carriers as mums work up a sweat and are often gently rocked to sleep with our smooth moves.
A Kanga class usually goes for about an hour - we do a warm up track with babies in arms, a few floor work tracks and then babies go into carriers (eg Manduca, Ergo etc) and we do some dancing, squats, arm exercises, stretching and pelvic floor exercises.
Before you can begin Kangatraining you must be given the all clear from your health professional at your postnatal check to start exercising again. This is anywhere from 6-10 weeks postpartum for a vaginal delivery and at least 12 weeks postpartum if you’ve had a c-section.
Babies aged from 6 weeks can come along with you to Kangatraining although there is really no age limit for babies so long as every mother participating can wear their baby safely and comfortably. You will need a baby carrier for class, but you do not need to own one as hire carriers are available on request. Our Manduca carriers can hold up to 20kg!
Babywearing safety is of utmost importance during Kangatraining. Due to the level of movement & physical activity, there are particular babyweaing requirements we must adhere to, to ensure the safety of both mums & bubs. All carriers must meet T.I.C.K.S guidelines for safe babywearing and must support the baby’s natural sitting position (M-position - hip to knee). Babies must be worn facing you in the carrier, placed either on your front or on your back. Tandem carrying - whilst amazing! - is unfortunately not safe during Kangatraining. All Kangatrainers are expertly trained in the best babywearing practices so we can help you assess whether or not your carrier is suitable for a Kanga class. Several different types of carriers are suitable for Kanga, including Manduca, Ergo, Boba, Tula, Kinderpak & Mei Tai. Carriers such as ring slings, stretchy wraps (e.g. hug-a-bub), carriers with little head support (e.g. mothers choice, baby Bjorn), narrow based carriers (e.g. Baby Bjorn/Safe n Sound) & outward facing carriers are unfortunately not suitable for Kangatraining and cannot be worn during class. If you don’t have a suitable carrier, we have a some carriers that you can hire for class.
As Kangatrainers we are authorised resellers of Manduca, Ergo, Beco, Tula and Boba baby carriers.

**Cancellations and refunds:
- As a mum myself, I understand that things often come up and can get in the way of your plans! Plus, illness cannot be avoided. Where possible, please provide at least 2 hours’ notice if you are unable to make it to your scheduled class, as there may be people on the waiting list.
- Passes are not transferable and no refunds will be given unless you find out you are pregnant or another medical condition arises.
- Although Kangatraining is a safe postnatal workout, my insurance does not cover pregnant women attending classes. So please if you find out you are expecting another baby, please let me know as early as you can. I promise to keep the secret and will happily refund your money or put your pass on hold so you can enjoy with your next bub as well.
