Purpose: Sunday mornings Fellowship Church utilizes many spaces of Portland Christian School that must be repurposed to fit the needs of the church service and then returned to their original state before school begins again on Monday. Setup teams serve the church body in a manner that transforms the school into a church space members and visitors feel welcome, have a safe and comfortable place for children during the service, and create a hospitable space for worship and fellowship.

Commitment: One Sunday morning per month, ~1.5 hours before church service begins and ~1 hour after the service concludes. We will have four teams of volunteers, one team per each Sunday of the month. On months with a fifth Sunday, setup and teardown duties will be performed on a rotation of each team (~1 each). Setup and teardown will begin again in August 13th, 2023 and conclude once more for the summer at the end of May 2024. Weekends such that Portland Christian School is out for Fall Break, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Spring Break, etc. may just require only setting up or teardown. Setup teams will also be responsible for assisting in Sunday evening events such as Worship and Prayer Nights or Member Vision Meetings.

Responsibilities: Approximately an hour and half before the church service begins (~8:30AM) the team will arrive at Portland Christian and have a quick meeting with the team lead to review any specific needs of that particular week. From there, the team will be responsible for transforming the school building to the needs of the church. The seats in the sanctuary will be straightened up, cafeteria tables stored, coffee brewed, coffee table and supplies set out, Fellowship Kids check-in table setup, and classrooms transformed into the needs of Fellowship Kids. Following the church service everything will be returned to the original state of the school and Fellowship items stored away in the attic or outside shed. Setup teams will also be responsible for the various needs to transform school spaces when Sunday evening meetings are held such as Prayer & Worship nights, summer suppers, Financial Peace meetings, etc. For these events, typically teardown will be limited after-church and then completed in the evening following the event.
