Press Officer Application Form DISDHMUN 2022
Dear all,

Thank you for expressing your interest by signing up to be a part of DISDHMUN's 1st Annual Session Press Team. All Press Officer applications must be submitted before Friday 24th of June 2022, accompanied by emailed samples of work as suggested in the position descriptions below:

                                             Journalist (open to all applicants)

Journalists are asked to research and write articles independently, as well as abide by deadlines. Journalists will also be called upon to write an article for the pre-conference issue so they must be able to make time beforehand. Articles cover issues such as the different resolutions and other happenings at DISDHMUN.

Examples of sample work:
An article, though other styles of formal writing (e.g. essays) are acceptable as long as they are relevant.

Newspaper Editors (only open to applicants with previous press experience)

Editors will help to decide upon article topics, edit work and support the journalists. This is a position of responsibility, whereby knowledge and understanding of both MUN and the UN is strongly recommended. Must also be able to make time beforehand, for the pre-conference issue.

Samples of work:
An issue of a newspaper edited by the applicant, which must include a sample article written by the applicant. If a written article by the applicant is not included in the submitted newspaper issue, then an additional article (written by the applicant) must be provided separately.

                                             Photographer (open to all applicants)

Photographers will need to work side by side with the journalists. They must be able to spot – and take – the picture that sums up an article in an artistic manner. They will be expected to work independently and to meet deadlines. Ability to work with Adobe Photoshop or Lightroom would be a critical advantage. Also, it is a requirement for each photographer to HAVE a quality camera that is able to transfer its files digitally.

Possible samples of work:
Photographs taken for articles, accompanied by the article itself; otherwise, any relevant photography is acceptable (showing talented and artistic photography).

                                                     Artist (open to all applicants)

Artists will be asked to create newspaper-style artwork based on an article, preferably in a cartoon style. In doing so, they might not get much time, so the ability to work quickly, accurately and under pressure will be crucial. Ability to use necessary Adobe programs or drawing programs is required.

Work to submit with application:
Cartoons/sketches.

Layout Artist (open to all applicants)

The role of digitally setting up and laying out the paper throughout the day. They must be flexible, adaptable and ultimately good under pressure. For this position, you will need to be familiar with Adobe InDesign or any similar designing programs.

Possible samples of work:

                                                 Filmmaker (open to all applicants)

Filmmakers will be focusing on filming the conference and creating videos that highlight the prominent parts of each day as well as introducing and finalizing DISDHMUN during the opening and closing ceremonies. As this role is important and demanding (in terms of quality and time), filmmakers must have a satisfactory command of editing software. iMovie is not recommended but, if the sample of work proves to be promising, an exception may be made. Help can be provided by editors.

Possible samples of work:
Self-filmed, edited clips and videos (anything of the sort), accompanied by a brief summary of time constraints and the software used.

Film Editors (need experience with editing software)
