We invite you to join us for the RISE Speaker Series Lecture by Savannah Martin (Confederated Tribes of Siletz), PhD Candidate in Biological Anthropology at Washington University in St. Louis, and Sapsik’wałá Scholar, University of Oregon, College of Education.
Brief Bio
Savannah Martin studies the biological manifestations of psychosocial stress and historical trauma in Native American communities. She is working with her own tribe, The Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, to learn how stressors related to culture, history, and indigenous identity might help explain disproportionately high rates of obesity and diabetes among Native Americans in the United States.

Savannah will give a public lecture and be available for a Q&A session right afterward. Students, faculty, staff, administrators, and community members are welcome to attend.
