Castaway Music Theatre Survey - SEND provision in Beverley and the surrounding areas
Our lottery funded Creative Transitions project would like to gather parent/ carer/ young person feedback relating to arts provision in the area and possible demand for further groups in Beverley and the surrounding areas.

We are committed to developing and improving SEND provision in the East Riding area (and beyond), developing SEND awareness and advocacy in the community, reducing social isolation, building confidence and access to the arts for young people with additional needs and their families. If you can take the time to complete this survey you will be helping us to assess what we can do to move this vision forward.

Creative Transitions is funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund.

Are you a:
Do you (son/ daughter) currently attend a group organised by Castaway Music Theatre? Please explain which group you attend and where below.  For example, music group in Beverley or youth theatre group in Goole *
If you (son/ daughter) attended a group organised by Castaway Music Theatre but no longer attend, please explain why below.  This will help us to understand demand, need and possible barriers to access.
If you (son/ daughter) have/has never attended a group at Castaway Music Theatre, please explain what the barriers to accessing this were. For example, not interested in the arts, Goole is too far from where you live, not aware of Castaway, can't commit to weekly sessions, anxiety and so on.
If you (son/ daughter) attend other extra curricular groups in the area , please let us know what they are  and where below so that we can understand what provision is currently on offer.
If you (son/ daughter) attended an extra curricular group you (they) enjoyed in the past, please let us know what it was, where it was and at what age you (they) attended. This will help us to understand what works well in the area.
What sort of extra curricular group would you like to see in the area? For example, drama, theatre, dance, social group (or other). When would you like to attend this group (weekday evening, weekend etc...)? How old are you (they) and what sort of age range do you think it should cover? What sort of thing would you (they) like to do at this group? For example, sing in a group, gain accreditation, perform at events, make friends etc...)
Do you think that there is a demand for arts groups (music, dance, drama, theatre, music tech, multimedia, arts and crafts) in the area for the following age groups (for young people with additional needs)?
Clear selection
Do you think that we live in an area promoting inclusion, kindness , awareness and understanding of neurodivergence and SEND? What would you like to see done differently in your local community (if anything)?  Is there anything working well in your local community (or beyond)?
We would like to organise a recurring event for young people between the ages of 16-25 years with additional needs in Beverley with the primary aims of building confidence, improving wellbeing and promoting a sense of community. Would you (or someone you know) be interested in this? What would encourage you (or someone you know) to attend a recurring event? What would put you off? What would you like to do there (e.g. Wellbeing Club (yoga and a coffee afterwards), coffee morning, arts and crafts classes etc.), mixture of the above? When would be a good time for this to take place (e.g. day, evening, weekend)?
Please add any further comments you think may be useful or relevant in this section and thank you for your time in completing this survey, it is much appreciated.  For more information or for further discussion contact: Emma, Creative Transitions Project Manager at ewalkercastaway@gmail.com
