SHPE Puget Sound 2024 Board Nomination
Welcome to the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHPE) Puget Sound 2023 Board Nomination form! SHPE Puget Sound invites you to use this form to nominate a deserving individual or yourself to potentially fill one of the following positions on the board of directors.

A brief summary of each position can be found below. Note that elections are for terms lasting 1 calendar year. (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025)

OPEN POSITIONS:
  • President - The President shall represent the Chapter and be responsible for all businesses concerning the Chapter, function and activities under the direction of the Chapter, subject to the approval of the Cabinet.  The President shall chair and preside at the general and special meetings.  The President shall have full power in the appointment or dismissal of any committee director, and may create and dissolve ad hoc committees, subject to the approval of the majority of the Cabinet present.
  • Vice PresidentThe Vice President shall assist the President in all business concerning the Chapter and shall act as President pro tempore in the latter’s absence.
  • Secretary - The Secretary shall be responsible for the following:

    a. Keeping the minutes of both Cabinet and general meetings.

    c. Coordinating the issuance of membership certificates.

    d. Making proper entries in the books of the Chapter.

    e. Serving all notices required by law, the bylaws or the Cabinet.

    f. Forwarding all legal records to SHPE National at the end of each fiscal year when applicable.

    The Secretary shall act as President pro tem in the absence of the President and the Vice President.
  • Treasurer - The Treasurer shall be responsible for the following:

    a. Collection of dues.

    b. Disbursement of authorized funds.

    c. Banking and accounting of all Chapter funds.

    d. Preparing quarterly financial reports listing all liabilities and assets of the Chapter to the Cabinet.

    e. Present the Cabinet with a financial statement within thirty (30) days from the end of each fiscal year.

    f. All financial reports required by the State of Washington and the Federal Government.

ELIGIBILITY
  • Open to paid and unpaid SHPE Professional Members [If elected, it is encouraged to have unpaid members become paid members]
  • President position requires an engineering degree OR 6+ years of related work experience

TIMELINE
  • Upon completion of this form, SHPE Puget Sound will reach confirm information and send additional information
  • 4/18/24 - Informational session to learn more about the chapter, it's structure, and answer questions will be held via Teams
  • 5/02/24 - Running pitches: individuals interested in a position will be asked to provide a short pitch to voting members of the current SHPE Puget Sound Chapter
  • 5/09/24 - Voting closes
  • 5/10/24 - Positions announced
