Muddy Creek Charter School was established to serve rural communities south of Corvallis. Its use of place-based education integrates the connection to our surroundings, community partnerships, and hands-on project learning activities to serve kindergarten through 5th grade students from Corvallis and beyond. We have never needed your partnership more than we do today.

Attending school in-person during a global pandemic is a privilege not available for all. Research is showing that schools following strict screening protocols, maintaining recommended social distancing, and working in partnership with families to keep each other safe are able to remain open without spreading COVID infection. We believe that our community can work together to safely bring our students back for in-person instruction. This requires all of us to commit to safe behaviors and to support the protocols put in place to keep our school community safe and open.

It is crucial we all do our part to ensure the health and safety of students and staff while attending in-person. We are asking your family to commit to this pact prior to the first day of in-person school. Families who are unable to commit to the following pact have the option, at this time, to remain in MCCS's Comprehensive Distance Learning (CDL) model.

Please take the time to carefully read through all of the expectations, including sharing these with every family member or individual who will be involved in the care of your child(ren).

To protect the MCCS staff and fellow students, I agree to keep my child(ren) home if they have any of the following (you must check all) *

Fever (a temperature of 100.4 or more) (primary symptom)

Severe headache

New loss of taste or smell (primary symptom)

If my child has any of the non-primary symptoms of COVID-19, I will isolate them at home for 24 hours after the symptom is resolved (without use of medication) and after I receive a healthcare provider's recommendation(s) *

If my child has any of the primary symptoms of COVID-19 listed above, I will not send them back to school until my child tests negative for COVID and is otherwise well enough to go back to school or a healthcare provider has seen my child and documented a reason for the symptoms other than COVID or all of these are true: 1) at least 14 days since the start of symptoms AND 2) fever free off anti-fever medicines for 3 days AND 3) symptoms are getting better *

I will immediately notify the MCCS office if I become aware of any person with whom my child(ren) or I have had contact exhibits any of the symptoms listed above, is advised to self-isolate, quarantine or has tested positive, or is presumed positive for COVID-19 *

If my child is diagnosed with COVID-19, I will not send them back to school until the following: It has been at least 14 days since my child first had symptoms AND my child has had no fever off anti-fever medicines (ex: Tylenol, Ibuprofen) for 3 days AND my child’s symptoms are getting better *

If someone in my household is diagnosed with COVID-19 or my child is exposed to COVID-19, I will keep them home for 14 days *

Prior to the first day of school I will practice and prepare my child(ren) for the following (you must check all) *

Morning drop-off and pick-up protocols

To have their temperature taken and answer questions about how they are feeling and if they have traveled out of state

Wearing a face covering appropriately (fits snuggly, fully covering nose and mouth) for an extended period of time. Face shields are an acceptable alternative ONLY when a person has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask or face covering. If your child meets this stipulation please contact the school office.

Washing/sanitizing hands frequently and whenever requested by a staff member

Keeping 6 ft. of distance from all other students and staff to the greatest extent possible. This includes siblings and members of pods.

To let an adult know immediately if they are not feeling well

To remain in their designated zone on the playground

To not enter the bathroom if another student is in there

To not share supplies or equipment with others

To remain in assigned seat

To walk on the right hand side of the hallway

Comply with any and all state, county or local stay-at-home orders and will limit my child(ren)’s contact outside of persons living in my household or those involved in the care of my child(ren).

Keeping my child(ren) home for 14 days following out of state travel

Dropping off and picking up my child(ren) during their designated time slot (not before or after)

Having my child(ren) ready to leave the vehicle immediately upon arrival. I understand that I will be expected to leave right after.

I understand if my child's temperature is 100.4 or above I will need to return to the school to pick him/her up

Wearing a face covering during drop-off and pick-up and anytime I am on the MCCS campus

I understand that neither my child(ren) nor I can remain on campus to socialize with others before, during, or after school

Picking my child(ren) up immediately or as soon as feasible (within 30 min.) if my child becomes ill at school

Not enter the school building unless approved by a staff member

Send snacks that are packaged in a way that is accessible for independent eating (doesn't require a staff member to open)

I understand that while present in the facility each day my child(ren) will be in contact with students and staff who are also at risk of community exposure. I understand that no list of restrictions, guidelines or practices will remove 100% of the risk of exposure to COVID-19 as the virus can be transmitted by persons who are asymptomatic and before some people show signs of infections. I understand that I play a crucial role in keeping everyone at MCCS safe and reducing the risk of exposure by following the practices outlined above *
