Thanks so much for supporting the Oregon Queer Youth Summit (OQYS) 2019! This year we will be hosting OQYS at Open School East from 9:00-4:00 PM, and Queer Prom at the Native American Youth and Family Center (NAYA) from 6:00-9:00 PM on June 1st! This means that we will need volunteers starting at 8:00 AM to help set up and until 10:00 PM to help clean up. There shifts separated by time slot and by task below. You helping make this day run so that our attendees and youth organizers can be fully present and enjoy the workshops and community-building.

We know you believe in keeping this event youth-centered, so that means adults do not attend workshops for the purpose of sharing their own experiences or otherwise detracting the focus from youth.

You can always support us through a donation as well, to help us pay for the space, food, stipends for youth presenters, travel scholarships for rural or distant youth, and keeping the dream alive in years to come.

(Before OQYS) Picking up food & clothing donations and bringing them to the location the week of the event

Set up morning snacks and beverages (8:00-10:00 AM)

Rearrange tables and workshop rooms (8:00-10:00 AM)

Drop off workshop materials in their assigned classrooms (8:00-10:00 AM)

Decorate the event space (8:00-10:00 AM)

Create signs for classrooms and all gender bathrooms (8:00-10:00)

Hand out programs and demographic questionnaires (9:00-11:00 AM)

Oversee Quiet Room (10-12:00 PM)

Oversee Art Room (10:00-12:00 PM)

Greet and direct tablers to assigned tabling area (10:45-11:15 AM)

Prepare food for lunch (11:00-12:15 PM)

Help serve/look out for cross contamination of food station (12:00-1:30 PM)

Set up classroom spaces for youth caucuses (12:30-1:15)

Clean up lunch serving dishes (1:15-2:30 PM)

Oversee Quiet Room (12:00-2:00 PM)

Oversee Art Room (12:00-2:00 PM)

Set up open mic equipment or event space (2:00-2:30 PM)

Support youth sign ups and sound equipment during open mic (2:30-4:00 PM)

Clean up for event: sweeping, wiping, removing decorations, collecting trash (4:00-6:00 PM)

Move chairs and tables back to original location (4:00-6:00 PM)

Oversee Quiet Room (2:00-4:00 PM)

Oversee Art Room (2:00-4:00 PM)

Prom will be located at Native American Youth and Family Center located at 5135 NE Columbia Blvd, Portland, OR 97218 from 6pm to 9pm. Volunteer shifts will be from 4:30pm to 10pm

Set up space: move tables/chairs, possible climbing of ladders, decorations. (4:30 to 5:45pm)

Write and put up signage: no smoking signs, directions, de-gender bathrooms (4:30 to 5:45pm)

Set up snack and drink station (5 to 6pm)

Bus volunteer: wait and escort youth to NAYA (5:30 to 6:30pm)

Bus volunteer: wait and escort youth to NAYA (6:30 to 7:30pm)
