Join us as Dr Haki Tuaupiki, senior lecturer at the University of Waikato’s Te Pua Wānanga ki te Ao (Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Studies) shares knowledge about indigenous voyaging and navigation.
Māori ancestors undertook voyages to and from Aotearoa using complex navigation skills and cutting-edge technology. Dr Tuaupiki has researched pūrākau, whakataukī and karakia to recover traditional Māori navigational knowledge.
The first part of this session will involve Dr Tuaupiki sharing his kōrero. This will be followed by an opportunity for participants to ask questions and engage in discussion.
