Thank you so much for your interest in joining the Oxford Opera Society!
The Oxford Opera Society is a non-profit organisation which aims to make opera more accessible to students and residents of Oxford, both through appreciation and through participation. On the one hand, we arrange affordable trips to world class productions, promote any opera productions within Oxford, and put on social events to encourage like-minded people interested in opera to meet and share their interest. On the other hand, we provide opportunities to both experienced and inexperienced performers through talks, masterclasses, and operatic productions.
The Society is run by student and resident volunteers, and its activities in any one year depend on the particular interests of its dedicated committee. However, as a rule, since 2018, we have put on a major production every year, alternating between full operas and concerts of fully-staged scenes, as well as gala concerts. Although there are several operatic groups in Oxford, the Oxford Opera Society covers a niche because of its particular ethos of inclusivity in bringing the performers and the audience together from all parts of Oxford in projects which encourage sharing of knowledge and enthusiasm for this great art form.
For our committee we are currently looking for a new:

There is no requirement to be a student or have any particular experience - just enthusiasm, a willingness to learn, and a responsible and proactive attitude! We love to work with people both with and without experience who ultimately agree with our aims and ethos of inclusivity for all!
Applications will close on at 23.59pm on Wednesday 31st January 2024, and we will hold interviews during the first two weeks of February.
If you're unsure which roles you are interested in, or have any questions about the roles, please let us know! We are very flexible and can always find a job for you, amend roles to make the workload manageable, and arrange job shares if you like. Similarly, if you are already performing in one of our productions or involved in the production team, this should not stop you applying if you feel you can manage both.
