MPA Cruise 2020-2021 Teacher Learning Community Application
Thank you for your interest in Crystal Cove Conservancy and Newport Landing's Marine Protected Area Science Cruise!

COVID-19 Update
We know things are different this school year due to COVID-19, but we are happy to book field trips in the event that field trips get approved by your districts. Please contact Jessica at jessica@newportwhales.com for their up-to-date COVID-19 safety precautions. You do not need to complete this form if you are only planning to run the curriculum in your classroom without a field trip.

At Crystal Cove Conservancy, we recognize that field trip costs can be a barrier to access for many students. As a result, we offer two tiers of financial support to junior high and high schools who seek to participate in the MPA Cruise program.

TIER ONE: Teacher Learning Community Scholarships
All teachers, regardless of their school’s financial status, are eligible to apply to join Crystal Cove Conservancy’s Teacher Learning Community, a professional community of teachers willing to share tested lesson plans, fundraising ideas, and other resources with each other.  Spaces in the Teacher Learning Community are limited and members must meet commitments in order to be re-admitted the following year.

As an accepted member of Crystal Cove Conservancy’s Teacher Learning Community, you will receive access to:
- Professional development opportunities and workshops
- A $250 scholarship towards your $800 program.

By becoming a member, you commit to:
- Attending a virtual professional development workshop before your program;
- Taking a leadership role during your program;

TIER TWO: Additional Scholarship Funding
Teacher Learning Community members may also apply for additional scholarship funding in the form of additional program support and full or partial support for bus transportation.  These funds are primarily reserved for Title I schools, although other schools that show need will be supported as funding allows.

If you request additional assistance beyond the $250 scholarship, in addition to meeting the commitments for Teacher Learning Community members, you must agree to meet a few other requirements:
- Bringing 20 students onboard each funded cruise;
- Facilitating pre- and post-trip student assessments;
- Sending Thank You notes to funders after your program;
- Submitting final invoices within 60 days of your program or by June 10, 2021 (whichever occurs first)

If you have any questions about funding please contact Holly Fletcher, Crystal Cove Conservancy Education Manager, via email at holly@crystalcove.org.

Boat booking questions can be directed to Jessica Roame, Newport Landing Marine Education Specialist, via email at jessica@newportwhales.com.
