This research is carried out as we seek to study speech perception and develop a speech perception in noise treatment for older adults in Singapore.

You will be asked to participate in our study either online or at our lab in Nanyang Technological University (NTU).

You may be asked to repeat, discriminate, and identify sounds and visual objects presented to you at a comfortable setting in a sound attenuated booth or in a quiet room. You may also be asked to fill up questionnaires and to be interviewed by the research team.
If you agree to take part in this study, your participation in the study will last about 1-2 hours.
Please note that parental consent is required for participation if you are below 21 years of age.

我们邀请您在⽹上或来南洋理⼯⼤学实验室参与我们的研究。研究内容包括: 复述句⼦，辨别声⾳，填写问卷，以及接受研究团队的采访。我们会在⼀个舒适的减⾳室或安静的房间进⾏这个研究。整个研究流程⼤约需要1-2个⼩时完成。
如果您未满21岁，我们将需要您⽗⺟签署同意书。

This research involves minimal risks, risks that are not greater than those ordinarily encountered in daily life or during the performance of routine physical or psychological examinations or tests.

The procedure in this study may have the following side effects or risks:
1. Fatigue
2. Discomfort from sitting for more than 30 minutes
3. Claustrophobia (fear of being in an enclosed space) while in a sound attenuated booth

If the study that last for more than 30 minutes, it will be divided into several blocks, between which rest periods will be provided to you. If you are uncomfortable to carry out the study in a sound-attenuated booth, we may conduct the study in other places such as a larger quiet room.

Your participation will be on a completely voluntary basis and you have the rights to withdraw from the study anytime without any negative consequences.

As a token of appreciation for your time and effort, we will offer a compensation of SGD$10 per hour for your participation。
