Child Passenger Safety Technician Training
Help parents and caregivers choose and use car seats and booster seats safely.
Training Date: Dartmouth - September 9, 10, 11, 2019 (Mon, Tues, Wed) with Amy Ells and Sandra Kalyta in partnership with CAA Atlantic.
One-day recertification training for existing Child Passenger Safety Technicians Thursday September 11, 2019.
The Child Passenger Safety Technician (CPST) training course takes place over 3 days and includes classroom instruction, hands-on practice, a multiple choice exam and a practical exam in the form of a public car seat check clinic.
With this training you can:
- Plan a community seat check event
- Give a booster seat presentation at your local school or community centre
- Answer car seat questions for a parenting class or parent-child group
- Connect with local law enforcement to plan a roadside check
- Meet with parents one-on-one to help
- Provide a workshop for your staff
The cost for each course varies depending on the instructor's costs and funding - this course will be $200. Subsidies (of up to $100) may be available for those registering as volunteers/non-profits. For recertification only, the cost is $100.
This course fee includes certification with the Child Passenger Safety Association of Canada for 3 years, a printed copy of the manual and all supplies.
